System Restore is a great tool that you can use to restore Windows and its settings to a previous working state. This is useful if you are having problems with destabilizing system drivers or faulty software. However, some of the changes you make sometimes affect your system so badly that you will no longer be able to log into Windows. What can you do to get Windows to work again? You run System Restore and then use it to get Windows back up and running. Here’s how to do it:
What About F8 And SHIFT F8?
Neither F8 nor SHIFT F8 are reliable boot options in the advanced boot options menu. For more information, see Start Windows 10 or Windows 8 in Safe Mode .
If you need access to advanced boot options, you can use one of the various methods listed above.
To start Automatic Repair in Windows 8, do the following:
- Start moderecovery
- Click Troubleshoot.
- Click Advanced Options.
- Click Startup Repair.
- Select your operating system.
- When prompted, select an administrator account.
- Wait for the automatic repair to complete.
- When the process is complete, click Shutdown Options or Advanced.
