  1. Open Disk Utility (under Applications> Utilities).
  2. Select USB Key, then the Section tab.
  3. Click the plus sign ( ) and add the partition to disk.
  4. Name the new section “Recovery HD”.
  5. Set the format to Max OS Extended (Journaled).
  6. Make the partition at least 1 GB in size.
  7. Click Apply.
