Should I disable Windows error reporting?

A problem report is also known as a bug report. This service is enabled by default in all versions of Windows. When Windows detects a hardware or software failure, diagnostic data is automatically collected and sent to Microsoft. For privacy reasons, you can turn it off.

What does Windows Error Reporting Service do?

The Microsoft Windows Error Reporting Service (WER) helps Microsoft and Microsoft partners diagnose problems with the software you use and propose solutions. Not all problems have solutions, but where solutions are available, they are offered in steps to resolve the problem you reported or updates to install.

What does Microsoft Error Reporting mean?

A bug report is simply Windows notification of a problem with a program or a program’s compatibility with your hardware. You can turn off System Restore (as a minor fix) and perform a Windows update. (www.windowsupdate.microsoft.com and ask to scan your computer.)
